There are so many ways to prepare for the upcoming school year. The best way to start is … well, there is no best way. Every family is different. Our family is a homeschooling one, and we find it best to do some kind of schooling throughout the year. This summer the kids are working on primarily Math.

In this, they’ve used quite a bit of paper and pencils and even broken a few (more than two) rulers. Don’t ask how. We’re not only prepping to have the right tools these next few weeks, as our co-op starts in August, we are also looking to set and meet goals. Have you ever seen the acronym for goals? Not just any goals, SMART goals. I’m sharing this with my kids today. They are at the age where they have seperate goals. It’s a great resource that can be applied to almost anything. For instance, specific goals with shopping help from spending too much. Making goals measurable helps with learning something new with diligence.

When we classify a goal as attainable, we don’t get overwhelmed as easy and give up. Relevant goals just make sense for what ever life stage we happen to be in. and Time bound goals ensure that we don’t procrastinate indefinitely. It sounds easy, but it takes some practice. In fact, when “Amazon Prime Week” comes up next week, we’ll be exercising this our specific part of goal making. What are some ways you’ll be exercising smart goals?
